New York Fashion Week | Trends

Last Thursday, New York Fashion Week kicked off with Fashion's Night Out all over major cities across the world, and has been churning out show after show since that Thursday. Fashion Week ends today, but fear not! In case you missed some of the fabulous shows, here is a quick recap of the trends found at Fashion Week:

Elie Tahari played with a mostly monochromatic palette - ensembles in different shades of tangerines, whites, ivory, dove grey, and of course, black. The pieces were all accented with gold -- belts, sandals, gladiator flats, purses, necklaces, and embroidery. The pieces were glamorous and relaxed, with flowing silhouettes and soft blouses. The collection is extremely wearable and very much versatile, and can easily go from day to night. This was my first Elie Tahari experience, and I've gotta say that I'll be raiding the archives to find out more about the design house!

Relaxed silhouettes, bright batiks and tye-dyes, re-vamped gladiator sandals, messenger bags, and leather accents at Michael Kors.

Nanette Leopore played up a lot of corals and oranges, combining the colors with neons, yellows, and icy blue for a cool effect. Also loved the neon shoes - awesome for adding a pop of color to any outfit!

I loved loved loved Oscar de la Renta's collection! It didn't stick to one particular trend but had a multitude in the form of refined lace; graphic, nature-inspired prints; classic cuts; dashes of white with bright colors; colored shoes; business suits softened up with sheer, feminine blouses; and liberal doses of bright colors: red, royal blue, bright yellow, deep and grass green. The collection was extensive but simple, and very much wearable with just the right doses of cheery spring color by the way of print-blocking and color-blocking. Love!

Ruffian basically summed up one of the biggest trends by far at Fashion Week - color-blocking. And of course, gotta love the colored shoes. The royal blue ones and the yellow ones are simply yummy!

Stay tuned for more recaps coming soon!
